Life Group Guide
For the week of April 22-28
Sermon Series: Strong
Sermon: The Miraculous Thread
Impact Team Focus: Setup/Teardown
Main Thought for the Week:
We often assume that when God delivers us from one challenge, He’ll immediately place us at our destination. Typically there is an “in-between season” between freedom and destiny. Life is not just about the escape and the arrival; it’s about the journey, the adventure, the story that happens between them.
The Israelites left Egypt and crossed the sea “on dry ground”, and then crossed over into the Promised Land through the river “on dry ground”, reminding them of God's past and present faithfulness.
In between these two crossings, they spent 40 years in the wilderness! It was there that they experienced God’s personal and individual work and care as he prepared them for the coming season. God miraculously leads us into seasons of growth, and it’s in the wilderness where we experience God’s personal intervention.
Exodus 14:29 (NIV)
29 But the Israelites went through the sea on dry ground, with a wall of water on their right and on their left.
Joshua 3:17 NIV
17 The priests who carried the ark of the covenant of the Lord stopped in the middle of the Jordan and stood on dry ground, while all Israel passed by until the whole nation had completed the crossing on dry ground.
- What stood out to you from this week’s message?
- Have you ever been frustrated by a discrepancy between God's timing and yours?
- Have you experienced a “wilderness” season in your life? How did God use that time to prepare or grow you for the next season?
- How can you apply this message going forward? (ex. Are you currently in a “wilderness” season, or do you expect one soon?)
Pray for individual requests in the group, pray for people being reached out to by group members by name, and pray for the growth and health of Grace City.
