Five, Fun Farms in the Eugene Area

Looking to grab some pumpkins, cider, farm fresh fruit, veggies or eggs? It’s not officially fall in the PNW until you’ve visited the farm. Eugene has some amazing local farms, all within a short drive. The pandemic has changed many of the offerings, so be sure to visit each farm’s website for current availability.

Herrick’s Farms—probably the most overlooked farm in town. It’s not the most glamorous but this family run farm has great hay rides, the selection is phenomenal and the prices are super reasonable. Best cider in town, hands down. The apple cider donuts served on the weekend are a great bonus. Bonus tip-Keep driving east and visit the sights the McKenzie river has to offer!

Detering Orchards— They offer it all! A great family run farm that has U-pick peaches and apples, fresh veggies, canned goods, cider and countless activities for all ages. Best selection and variety of farm goods in town. Apples Daze in the fall is a must while here in Eugene!

Johnson’s Vegetable Farms- Another family owned favorite. You haven’t truly been on a hayride until you’ve been on Walt’s wild wagon ride. Throwing pumpkins at scarecrows in the back of a trailer will make you feel like a kid again. They also have Indoor options including a hay maze for those few rainy days in October. They also have a limited selection of farm fruits and veggies.

Thistledown Farm- The most picturesque of all the farms. They offer wagon and horse rides to the pumpkin patch. Large selection of market goods including meats and baked goods. U-cut flowers available in season along with a nursery.

Charles Little and Company- Looking for something besides pumpkins and veggies? Charles Little offers incredible flowers and arrangements, wreaths, honey and many other locally made gifts. They even offer workshops making arrangements from in-season flowers. Located at the base of Pisgah, it’s a lovely stop after a wonderful hike.
