Honor Run for Loren

  • Alton Baker Park 100 Day Island Road Eugene, OR, 97401 United States (map)

Please join us for the second annual 5k run/walk and kids dash in honor of Loren Leighton. This year's honor run will be a virtual event on June 20th.

In November of 2018 Loren fell from a ladder while picking apples leading to a major brain injury. Despite emergent life-saving surgery, Loren's brain swelling continued and there were no viable options for care. His wishes were honored to continue life through organ and tissue donation. Loren was wheeled to surgery through the Honor Walk and now we get to continue honoring his life and legacy through one of Loren's own passions, running.

Proceeds from the race will go towards our ongoing partnership with Freedom Tree Ministries.
We will soon announce more details regarding registration so keep an eye and an ear out for more information!

his year’s Honor Run has transitioned to be a virtual 5k walk / run, so participants will run or walk their 5k on their own time and location. The official day that folks are invited to participate in the Honor Run is on July 20th, where participants will choose their own route, record their own time, and share a photo or video of them participating on social media. By registering this coming weekend, you will be mailed a race pack that includes an official bib number and pins, and the 2020 Race Shirt.

Proceeds of this race will go to the work being done in Sierra Leone to improve infant and maternal mortality rates through the organization Freedom Tree and Grace City Eugene’s ongoing relationship with them. Registration closes on Sunday, May 31st, at midnight. Head to gracecityeugene.com/honorrun to register.
